Anna-Eva Bergman – Light, 1973-1987
January 12 – April 8, 2018
Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, Germany

Beginning January 12, 2018, the Fondation Hartung-Bergman partners with the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig to present the Franco-Norwegian artist Anna-Eva Bergman (1909-1987). The foundation and the museum previously collaborated for the 2007 exhibition Hans Hartung, Spontanes Kalkül. Eleven years later, the spotlight is on Anna-Eva Bergman, her first large-scale show in a German museum. This is the second part of an exhibition dedicated to Bergman’s Antibes period, after Anna-Eva Bergman, L’atelier d’Antibes (1973-1987), presented March 5 through June 4, 2017, at the Domaine de Kerguéhennec in Bignan (Morbihan), France. The Fondation Hartung-Bergman will be lending some forty pieces to the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig for this occasion.

There will also be a bilingual German/English catalogue, Anna-Eva Bergman – Licht/Light, 1973-1987. The catalogue, brought out by Hirmer Publishers, will feature reproductions of all works shown in the exhibition, as well as essays by Jan Nicolaisen, Céline Flécheux and Romain Mathieu.
